Eleven Peppers Studios Named Merit Winner in HOW Promotion Design Awards

Project selected as one of 101 winning designs from top agencies.

[Cincinnati]—Make-A- Wish Gift, a project developed by Eleven Peppers Studios, was chosen as a Merit winner in the most recent HOW Promotion & Marketing Design Awards. This highly selective and well-regarded competition sponsored by HOW magazine recognizes outstanding creative work produced by individuals and creative agencies from around the world.

HOW’s editorial and design team, along with Breakaway’s Chief Creative Officer Scott Maney, Designlore’s Laurie Churchman, and The Davis Group’s Principal Douglas Davis, evaluated nearly 1,000 entries and selected winning projects that demonstrated an ideal mix of concept, strategy and execution. Entries were judged by type of work (e.g., Designer Promotions, Client Promotions, Personal Promotions) and also by how effectively the design achieved the stated business goals.

Every year the Eleven Peppers Studios team sends a holiday gift in December to say thank you to their clients, mentors and supporters. In 2015, they decided that their gift would be individual donations made to the Make-A- Wish Foundation in the names of their clients, supporters and mentors. To commemorate the donation, they wanted to reinforce the beauty of wishing, and collaborated with a local vendor to create hand-poured soy candles. The candles were specially designed to have three wicks, each wick symbolizing a word in the Make-A- Wish Foundation mission statement—hope, strength and joy. The overall theme is celestial, and the candle wrap features hand-drawn illustrations of the wishes of actual Make-A- Wish children, rotating around the candle. As a hidden surprise, the illustrations have been punched with tiny holes that reveal constellations when the candle is illuminated.

We Won, Hon!

Surreal. That is how it felt when we had the privilege of winning six awards in the 42nd Annual Baltimore American Advertising Awards (formerly ADDYs). It was especially surreal because we won our first GOLD (three of them!) We had a great group of peppers (eleven coincidentally) at Table 27 for the awards ceremony at the Baltimore Museum of Industry, a perfect venue for the occasion. It was humbling to be surrounded by so many established, award-winning advertising firms in the Baltimore area. The theme of this year’s event was Baltimore Hon’ and it couldn’t have felt more authentic and close-to-home, with beautiful graphics and swag designed by Harvey Agency, topped off with a classic signature drink, the Orange Crush. There were even mini bags of Berger cookies… yum!

As a small, close-knit family of creatives, our mission has always been to do great work with great people. It is an honor to be recognized for our hard work, and we couldn’t be more excited about it. The winning work throughout the awards ceremony was nothing short of extraordinary and inspiring. The amount of talent in Baltimore is mind-blowing. It motivates us to continue doing what we do best.

So, what’s next? Well, our entries will be forwarded to the district competition where we will compete against winners from Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, Virginia and Washington, D.C. Wish us luck!

Thank you to all of the peppers, friends and family that have supported and believed in us. We did it! And, a special congratulations to ALL the winners! Creativity is alive and well in Bal-mer Hon’!
