Pepper Talk with Chelsea Jamerson
Dive into the world of Chelsea Jamerson with us! Chelsea works as a UX Designer doing everything from design, user interviews, accessibility testing, and more. She’s been with Eleven Peppers since February 2024.
1. Do you have any nicknames?
Cjams or Chels
2. What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
Eat breakfast, I love breakfast foods.
3. What is your favorite part of working as a UX designer?
It’s a whole new world for me, and I am loving learning all the aspects of it!
4. How did you get started in this industry?
In design overall, I started when I was a teenager making myspace layouts. Into UX specifically, at my last job I worked on one UX project and was eager ever since to learn more but never got to until I came here.
5. What are your favorite tools of the trade? What are the worst?
I do love me some Adobe products. Illustrator is my favorite, the one I used to be the most afraid of now is my go-to starting app. The worst has to be PowerPoint.
6. Do you have a set process when working on a new design project?
The standard: Find inspiration, ideate, feedback, refine, present, refine if needed. Ideation varies if I do it with pen and paper or digital tools.
7. What do you draw inspiration from?
Music, including music paraphernalia (vinyl packaging, concert posters, etc.) and also the 80’s and 90’s eras.
8. Rapid-Fire Round:
Caffeine or no: Unfortunately, yes
Sweet or savory: Savory
Favorite TV series: I could go on for days. Stranger Things, Misfits, Breaking Bad & Schitts Creek to name a few.
Favorite place to travel: Anywhere with mountains – I am not a beach person.
Hobbies: I play drums, draw, write, go to concerts, & make earrings.
9. Okay, admission time… Which site is at the top of the list when it comes to UX design?
Honestly, Nielsen Norman. Gotta start with the standards and basics before you can get to the fun stuff and it’s a super critical resource.
Thanks for meeting Chelsea. Stay tuned for next month’s interview with another one of our Peppers.
