This month’s Pepper Talk features Kaysie Justice, a junior designer who is currently supporting our commercial team. She joined the Eleven Peppers family in November, 2023.

1. Do you have any nicknames?
I don’t really have any cool nicknames that I go by.

2. What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
It’s a horrible habit, but I check social media/my phone first thing in the morning.

3. What is your favorite part about working as a designer?
Getting to be creative and see my work go through all its different phases from start to finish.

4. How did you get started in this industry?
An opportunity came up while I was in college to be a communications and marketing intern for another government contractor, and I’ve been in this industry ever since.

5. What are your favorite tools of the trade? What are the worst?
Favorites: Illustrator and Photoshop
Least favorite: Excel by far

6. Do you have a set process when working on a new design project?
I make sure to take time to get acquainted with the project itself, and then I work on getting all my ideas, both good and bad, drawn on paper before jumping right into Adobe.

7. Where do you draw inspiration from?
Wherever I can find it – I find inspiration in nature, other people, other mediums of art.

Favorite TV series: Schitt’s Creek

Favorite place to travel: Kerr Lake

Hobbies: Recently, finding new board/card games, and picking up a new hobby every few months

9. Okay, admission time… Which designers are you following on your IG feed?

A longtime favorite has been @juliafletcherstudio! I’ve really loved seeing her work pop up on my feed all these years.
